DAM Events

What do a X-factor finalist, a world renowned poet, a NAACP Image Award Nominee, and a Janet Jackson dancer all have in common?

They have all graced the stage at a DAM event.

Now in its ninth year, the event is a major draw for inspiring creators and performers who are deeply committed to giving raw, untapped Bay Area talent a place to grow.

We bring together a range of creative talent – from dancers and poets to fashion designers and visual artists – in professional, dynamic settings that inspire connection and creativity.

We take a hands-on approach to preparing talent for each event, working alongside artists to polish their work to showcase and performance level. We also offer cross-marketing partnerships that encourage artists to connect with organizations that share similar interests.

DAM Events is forging a new creative culture in which professional local artists are given the tools they need to cultivate work with greater purpose. Our events showcase a broad range of new and under-represented Bay Area talent, providing them with industry connections within their own communities as well as creative resources in the U.S. and abroad. We thrive on positivity and diversity, giving creatives of all ages, ethnicities, and backgrounds an empowering community in which to share their work.

Since 2010, DAM Events has provided developing artists the opportunities they need to strengthen and showcase their talent, as well as connections to industry professionals who are key to launching careers in the arts.

KQED Arts: Doin' the DAM Thing in the Bay Area

February 21, 2018

"On a Thursday night this past December at the New Parish in Oakland, I saw a variety show unlike any I had seen. For lack of a better term, you could call it a talent show, but it was far from a high school assembly. Included was an amazing West African dance performance, followed by a lyrical exhibition by an MC from East Oakland. Somewhere in the mix, I saw a pole dancing performance that made me look at my own abs in utter shame...."

Here's to Hip Hop

"From old school movements like the Richmond Robot and Oakland Boogaloo, to Hyphy and Turfing to San Francisco’s ‘new style’ hip-hop choreography, the Bay Area is a hub for hip-hop dance. The scene stays fresh with diversity across communities, keeping this form innovative and accessible..."
